Stomach Exercises And Getting A Flat Stomach

by Laura on December 12, 2010

Stomach ExercisesWhen it comes to doing Stomach Exercises in an attempt to get a flat stomach there is a lot of nonsense talked about the subject. Most of it fairly harmless but some of the advice given could if followed be bad for your health!

The first thing anyone considering a new workout should look at is their current state of health and the best person to advise you on what is and isn’t safe for you is your Physician or health professional. So remember to go visit him / her before starting it’s always best to be safe :)

The first thing you need to know about getting a flat stomach is that exercising the abdominals (tummy muscles) isn’t going to be very effective on it’s own. I know that sounds backwards but no matter how hard and how many stomach exercises you do it’s not going to flatten that stomach. Sure it’ll give you very strong Abs (a good thing) but unless you deal with the layer of fat on top they’ll never look flat.

You’re going to have to lose weight (fat) before your abs will show so any Ab product or machine that claims to help you get fantastic abs by exercise alone is misleading you. Spot reduction just isn’t possible so the only way you’re going to get a flat stomach is by losing fat over the entire body.

The good news is you already know how to do that eat healthy and exercise more.

So your get a Flat Stomach plan should look like this:

  1. Eat healthily (no dieting please)
  2. Add some exercise into your daily routine (3 times per week)
  3. Continue with (1) and (2) until you are close to your target weight and BMI (Body Mass Index)
  4. Once you get to (3) then you can focus on your abs if that’s still your goal

Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well the steps are easy but you need to find the discipline and motivation to follow the plan until you’ve reached your target.

To be brutally honest if you can’t manage steps one and two then your goal of getting flat abs is doomed to fail.

If you’re struggling to find a method or don’t know where to start you could take a look at The Truth About Abs. This information product will help you create the correct mindset and will teach you all you need to know. It’ll provide a plan you can easily follow on your journey to a Flat Stomach.

Exercise To Reduce Tummy Fat – Tips

by Laura on December 18, 2010

Reducing the unwanted effects of too much tummy fat can seem like an almost unattainable goal to many people who just get stuck in a rut of eating the wrong things and not feeling motivated to exercise. However, by gradually introducing required lifestyle changes, reducing tummy fat will become an easy part of everyday life. Below are several tips that can be followed in order to get rid of that unwanted belly flab through exercise and diet.

Proper Dieting for Reducing Unwanted Belly Weight

Diet seems like the most obvious way to reduce tummy fat. However, with all of the information out there on weight loss and “eat this, not that”, it can be difficult to know where to turn. Fortunately, the answer is very simple. By eating a high protein and low carbohydrate diet, not only will the fat start to disappear, but you will feel better and be healthier overall. Sugar, bread, alcohol and similar items all need to go, and this can be hard for some. Try introducing these changes one at a time to make the transition easier. Consider substitutes such as fruit for sugar and whole meal cracker bread for normal bread.

Reduce Tummy Fat with Exercise

Although a seemingly obvious way to lose weight, exercising can end up being useless if not done properly and combined with a healthy, protein-rich diet. There are many different fat-burning moves that can be done every day in the privacy and comfort of the home. These include squats, crunches and planks. Each rep should be held for as long as possible, until you can feel the burn in your abdomen. Over time, the amount of reps you will be able to do will increase.

Burn Off Excess Weight at the Gym

There is also quite an array of equipment at the local gym that can be put to work on your body. Rowing, walking, and full-body exercising on the elliptical machine can all be excellent for working not only your stomach muscles, but the rest of your body as well. Spending time on the treadmill can be excellent cardiovascular exercise that will improve the overall health of your body, as well as strengthening the core and toning the legs. Many people forget the fact that working out the whole body burns more calories and will lead to a stronger and more toned stomach quicker.

Another Fat-Burning Exercise to Try at Home

Besides the typical crunches and jogging on the treadmill, there are a few other, lesser-known exercises out there that can work the muscles in the stomach to effectively reduce tummy fat. One of these requires you to stand facing some type of support, such as a counter or a chair back at about waist height. With your hands on the support and feet together, breathe out as you tighten the belly and slowly rise up onto your toes. Hold and count to five, slowly lowering into a squat with the back held straight. Keep your stomach contracted during the entire exercise. This also works out the oblique muscles quite well.

Enjoying the Results

It can be difficult to suddenly give up your favorite sugary, salty snacks. It can also be tough to get off the couch and exercise. However, when you start seeing the results of all the hard work, you will be very pleased that you started. Gradually introducing these changes into your life can help to make it more painless. With the right amount of determination, it can be easy to reduce tummy fat and become toned, fit and healthy.

Effective Stratagies To Tone Stomach Muscles

by Laura on December 17, 2010

Everybody wants to have a slim physique with an attractive, toned stomach. However, achieving this look can be difficult for many people. Toning the muscles in the stomach can actually be fairly easy – that is, if you are well informed on how best to combine diet and exercise to get the best results. Read on to discover a few tips on how to tone stomach muscles properly and burn away unwanted stomach fat.

Proper Exercise to Tone Stomach Muscles

Exercising is one of the most important things anyone can do to get on the road to achieving a slimmer stomach. However, there is so much information out there about different workout routines, as well as exercises that don’t really work, that it can be difficult to decide where to turn first. Fortunately, the best exercises to tone stomach muscles are actually very basic and easy to do, whether in the gym or at home.

A Great Ab Workout

One move that is excellent for working the stomach muscles requires you to rest your hands on your knees with the legs bent in a partial standing position. Take a sharp breath out and hold it, sucking the stomach muscles inward and upward. Repeat this action a few times until you must take a breath. Wait a few moments in between each rep in order to catch your breath so that the action can be repeated several times until you really start to feel the burn.

Conventional At-home Exercises

Other, more classic stomach workouts include crunches, planks and squats. Crunches are an easier form of sit-ups, in which you only raise your upper body off the floor enough to feel the impact on the stomach muscles. Planks have you lying face-down in the typical push-up position, forearms resting on the floor and legs resting on your toes as you hold the abdomen muscles tightly for as long as you can. Squats require a standing position with the back straight and knees bent; then you need to squat (as if sitting on a chair) while holding contracting the stomach muscles, then slowly rising without locking the knees.

The Other Half of Weight Loss: Healthy Dieting

The importance of a healthy diet should never be underrated, and when combined with these exercise tips, can be lethal in the fight against belly flab. The formula is simple: eat plenty of proteins and vegetables, and cut out sugar, alcohol and everything else high in calories and bad carbohydrates. The trick in burning fat is to consume less than you burn. By watching calorie intake, it is possible to easily get into a tummy toning routine. For energy, remember to eat plenty of fruit as they contain good carbohydrates as well as vitamins and antioxidants.

Finding the Motivation You Need

Hitting the gym can be the answer to those who have trouble finding the motivation to exercise at home; in fact, using the services of a personal trainer can make it even easier. The structured setting can make it more difficult to “cheat” and can get you the results you need much faster. However, it´s more than easy to tone the stomach muscles at home. Just keep your goal in mind and stay focused.
